The eight-page Guitar Theory for Guitarists — Left-Handed Edition is a free PDF. Download it to read or print; no email address is required.

Play your first chord changes

Start in standard tuning. Pick Am and C, check every sounding string, then practise moving between them slowly. The chord pages include three shapes; use one shape at a time rather than trying to memorise them all.

Find notes and build a short melody

Use the note map to find a root, then play a small scale range and return to that root. Hear the sound of each note instead of racing through a large pattern.

Learn the idea behind the shape

Intervals describe the distance between notes. Chords combine notes; scales give you an ordered set to explore. Work through one example on the guitar before reading the next topic.
